Interesting walks along the front, with views across the Thames estuary to Kent and Isle of Grain. Can be a bit bleak in winter, but dog-friendly pubs along the way are good stop-off points to re-fuel and warm up. In the summer sunshine..... lovely walks.....but avoid if you have dogs as they can't go on the sand/gravel/mud between April to end of September (I think?...check before going). Nice and peaceful on off-peak quiet days.

For a quite spot to picnic or contemplate the lower gardens are ideal. Some good shade to from the sun on hot days
